In 2018 I saw the early stages of Free Movement Skateboarding, an inclusive community skateboarding project in Athens, and had the privilege of assisting in some of their sessions. During this time, I created a collection of photographs captured on a semi-broken point-and-shoot film camera and finalised these into a small publication titled Grip. An edition of 50 copies were produced, with all proceeds donated to the organisation and was later featured in the No Comply exhibition at Somerset House.
Returning in 2022 for their 5th birthday celebration, I documented their sessions at Galatsi D.I.Y. Skatepark and in Patisia. The resulting series, Gripped, acts as a sequel which gives more of an accurate account of a community project that is more diverse, inclusive, empowering and fun than ever before.
